Our three top tips for the fall
Zurich moms like us know just the right places for kids to play in the heart of the city. Places where they can burrow in the sandbox, whoosh down slides and climb trees to their heart’s content. We particularly love spots where there’s also a great café.
This huge park near Langstrasse is affectionately known as the “Bäcki”. In this urban oasis, teens meet to play ping-pong, parents bring their kids to play and yogis do their morning practice under the huge plane tree. A colorful blend of cultures and generations makes the Bäckeranlage a vibrant place to be. Restaurant B offers fresh, simple dishes all year round, with plenty of long tables under the trees looking right out onto the sandbox. Now that's convenient!
How to get there: Bäckeranlage, Hohlstrasse 67, 8004 Zurich
Nestling between housing developments, an incineration plant and a railway viaduct, you will find Josefwiese. This big green space is perfect for playing frisbee and soccer, slack-lining between the trees and firing up the portable grill in the evening. In summer, kids cool off in the fountain or let off steam on the playground, while the grown-ups enjoy a latte macchiato from the coffee stand.
How to get there: Josefwiese, near the railway arches, trams no. 4, 17 and 13 to Dammweg
